I started this blog for very selfish reasons and many of those reasons are the same reasons we all choose to post content and updates to our favorite social networks.
The majority of my posts here will be based on my own personal observations and insights into how human behavior and social network activity is helping to reshape our world as well as my personal experiences in conceptualizing and executing social media practices online.
Anthropological visionaries like Pierre Bourdieu studied the influences of both external social structures and subjective experience on the individual to help uncover the dynamics of power relations in social life, what I will attempt here is to help uncover those dynamics within the realm of social media.
Like digital media before it, social media is a new trail being blazed by some of the industries brightest and most talented creative minds. By now we all get how powerful it is and how it is changing the advertising landscape but what we are still struggling to find are the various nuances that make social media such a powerful platform for communication.
So stay tuned for some deep insight, comical musings and personal opinion. I will attempt to humanize what seems like robotic behavior that tries to manifest itself as human interaction in a very digital medium.
